Dr Philippe Bousso is the 2024 winner of the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation’s scientific grand prize.

He succeeded in filming in real time the “waltz” of immune cells in the organs of living animals using an imaging technique that had never been used before by immunologists. This performance led the researcher and his team to decipher more precisely how our armies of cells combine to defend our body. In an interview with Le Figaro, Dr Philippe Bousso indicated: “Ultimately, our objective is to go further by trying to improve the response of patients to [immuno]therapies, limit their toxicity, or even create new immunotherapies, more accessible and personalized”.
