The VRI includes 150 researchers working on more than 40 international projects.
He received his PhD in microbiology from the university Paris-Sud (France) and his HDR (accreditation to supervise research) in immunology from the university Paris Descartes, following his work in the laboratory of Pr Michel Kazatchkine on the characterization of immune and viral mechanisms involved in mucosal transmission of HIV.
Dr Hakim Hocini was responsible of mucosal immunology laboratory at les Cordeliers institute at Paris before joining the Vaccine Research Institute in 2010 to lead the genomic laboratory.
