The VRI includes 150 researchers working on more than 40 international projects.
Laura Richert is a MD, PhD and Associate Professor in Public Health and Biostatistics at the University
of Bordeaux. After medical studies in Germany, she obtained her PhD at the University of Bordeaux
with research on methodological and statistical aspects in HIV vaccine clinical trials and has spent 12
months as a visiting researcher at the Heinrich Pette Institute, Hamburg (department of Virus
Immunology). She carries out her research activities in the Inserm U1219/Inria SISTM team
("Statistics for Systems Biology and Translational Medicine"), where she coordinates the research
axis on translational vaccinology. Her research focusses on optimizing clinical vaccine research
through integrative statistical approaches and methodological developments. She participates in
H2020-funded research consortia and is clinical trial methodologist of several national and
international vaccine trials.
At the University Hospital of Bordeaux, she is head of the Clinical Epidemiology Unit, coordinator of
the Clinical Epidemiology module of the Clinical Investigation Center (CIC1401) and head of the
international clinical trials platform EUCLID/F-CRIN, which has a strong focus on vaccine trials.
She teaches biostatistics and clinical epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine and at the School of
Public Health, University of Bordeaux.
